Jungle Bells 1

Hi everyone! This is Jungle Bells 1, an image I did for Whimsy a few years ago. I have a video which I did on the Whimsy Facebook page today, showing how I coloured this guy's hat! I happened to use Copic markers. If you want to go check it out and watch me colour, here's your link to the Whimsy page on FB, and just scroll down until you see my face and the video! The following few days are going to be really fun because it is Whimsy's 10th birthday, and Denise of Whimsy Stamps has a lot of games for you to play and lots of chances to win Whimsy goodies! So head on over there to find out all the ways you can enter! I even have a little thing going on - if you comment on the video I made, you are entered to win a draw for this card! I will send it to one randomly chosen commenter. So head on over to FB to enter!
Thanks so much for looking!

Fawn

Here is "Fawn", a digital image I did for Whimsy Stamps! It does triple duty as a spring image, new baby image, or as I have shown here, a Christmas image! It's one of Santa's new reindeer born at the North Pole, and its lying on a bed of sparkling snow!  Well, a girl can imagine, right?  This is actually another shaker card made with the help of Whimsy's Shaker Maker Combo Die set.  I used crushed glass glitter for the "snow" inside the shaker portion. Paper was from my stash.  I painted the rim of the circle and the outer edges of the designer sheet with a gold paint for some added shine.
I coloured "Fawn" with Copic markers. The sentiment is from an older retired set of red rubber at Whimsy Stamps. Here is your close-up of the coloured image:

Penguin Elves At The Workshop

Hi Peeps! I've got Penguin Elves At The Workshop on display for you today! Looks like they're kinda busy, as I'm sure they are at this time of year (snort!)
This is a digital image I did for Whimsy Stamps, and so is the green background paper.  It's a sheet from the "Christmas Red, Gold and Green" pack.  I had a lot of fun drawing the floor and wreath background to make it look like they were in a room.  The elves are a combination of Copic markers and coloured pencil, and the floor/wreath/wall background is just Copics.
Here is a closeup:
The beautiful chipboard sentiments are from Make It Crafty, and Whimsy Stamps sells them for those on the Western Hemisphere. I coloured them with a red Copic marker.
Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Unicorn

I'm on a shaker-card-roll right now and I love it! Here I have a card using the Shaker Maker Combo Set from Whimsy, as well as my Christmas Unicorn, which is a digital image just released this month.  Also, I used a sheet from my Christmas Traditions digital paper!  I filled the shaker with crushed glass glitter for a sparkly snowy look.  I also glued some to the star and the bell in the image.
The sentiments are chipboard elements by Make It Crafty which are also sold at Whimsy Stamps!
I coloured the image, sky and snow using Copic markers, and used a white gel pen and a snow writer for the snow drops coming down in the sky.
Here is your close-up (the snow-writer was still wet so you can see the bubbles in the blobs):
Copics used:
Unicorn white:
YR30, B0000, BV20, 23, E40, W1, C0
Snow: B60, 63, B0000, 000, 00, BG70, BV0000, BG0000, YR30, BV20, B93, 95
Reds: R14, 17, 29, 59
Sky: B01, BG11
Gold star, bell and horn: Y00, YR12, 14, 27
Thanks so much for coming by today!

Penguin and Reindeer Friends

Hello everyone! How are you all doing!? I have another Christmas card to share today, this one with my rubber image, "Penguin and Reindeer Friends" from Whimsy Stamps. I coloured it with a combination of Copics and prismacolour pencils on the image, and just Copics on the background/ground/trees.
The two designer papers are from two of my sets at Whimsy: Christmas Red Gold and Green, and I Dream In Christmas.
Also used on this card is some gorgeous and fun to use Chipboard by Make It Crafty, and also available at Whimsy Stamps!
I used some glitter glue and some crushed glass glitter on the bells.  Looks a little but much in the photo, but more subtle and sparkly in real life (isn't that the card crafter's bane - trying to photograph glitter!)
Thanks for looking!
Blessings!

Seal In Water

I think I found a new passion.  Shaker cards.  GWASH! I love making them! For this one I used my new digital image, "Seal In Water".  I coloured it with Copics and sponged some blue inks around the outer edges.  I made the snowflake paper with a gorgeous Snow Flurry stamp from Whimsy Stamps. I stamped in white ink and embossed with white powder. The poinsettia is also a Whimsy product, "Build A Poinsettia".  The Sentiment is from the new clear set, "Christmas Tidings".  I filled in the shaker part with a few little sparkly stars, and a spoonful of crushed glass glitter.  Hint: use a clean un-used dryer sheet and put all the stuff for the shaker part into it, and massage it with the dryer sheet.  Or else it sticks to the acetate and doesn't even fall down to the bottom.  Jussaying! Thanks for looking!

Christmas Tidings

I'm so excited about this - this is my first shaker card! I love love love this process and the end result too! I will be doing more of these; I think I'm hooked! The Shaker Maker Combo Die Set was what I used to make the window and some of the little shaker stuff.  So cool!
This image and sentiment is from my new set at Whimsy called "Christmas Tidings Clear Set".  I also used the Making Waves stencil with some Oxide inks - oh how fun was that! I want more stencils, it is just too easy and fast to make your own beautiful background paper with them!
I coloured the little seahorse with Copic markers.
Thanks so much for looking!

Turtle Christmas Lights

Hi People!
I have a different sort of card today, but this sure was a blast to make! I stamped Turtle Christmas Lights (red rubber) onto a piece of turquoise card stock and coloured it with Prismacolour Pencils.  The turquoise base gave all the colours a cool, greyed down look, so that it actually gives the appearance of being an underwater scene!  Along the edges, I sponged on some Distress Oxide inks to give the water some gradations of colour.  The following inks were used: Faded Jeans, Peackock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Broken China.  A paper mask prevented the ink from getting on the turtle image.  I also added a very few swipes of white ink to show beams light coming down from  the top left.  The sentiment is from another new set, "Christmas Tidings", which is a really fun set as well.
Thank you so much for coming by today!

The star is covered with crushed glass glitter (my fav type of glitter).

Christmas Mermaid

Hi People!  When I coloured "Christmas Mermaid", hubby Mike immediately claimed it for his Christmas card this year.  Heh-heh!
She's a digital image and I coloured her with a combination of Copics (first) and then Prismacolour Pencils overtop.  The water background is just Copics (a teeny tiny bit of white gel pen for some of the bubble highlights) and this is what I used:
B0000, 000, 00, 60, 32, 05
BG11, 13, 01, 23, 32
I also used a ruler to make sure I kept the streaks straight!
The background paper I used is from my set of digitals at Whimsy called Snowdrops.  I like how it looked "scaley" which really went well with the fishy/mermaid theme of this Christmas card.
I made the sentiment on my computer.
Thank you so much for looking!

Hi Peeps! Here's my rendition of "Penguin Elves at the Workshop", complete with a background I made for it.  I used Copics mainly, but also a few Prismacolour pencils on some of the areas I wanted to polish.  Also used was a white gel pen for the sparkle on the hat and the snow outside the window.

Penguin Fun In Fall

Hi Everyone!
I love to walk through piles of leaves on a sunny autumn day and hear the leaves crunch under my feet.  It is one of my favourite things to do in this season.  This is "Penguin Fun In Fall", a newly released digital image at Whimsy Stamps.  I coloured this scene using Copics first, then followed up with Prismacolour Pencils. I especially enjoyed doing the texture of the bark on the tree (tree was freehand drawn and is not included in the image file).  Here is your close-up:

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Unicorn Challenge: Autumn or Halloween
Creative With Stamps: Halloween or Leaves
2 Crafty Critter Crazies: Anything with a critter

Polar Bear's Christmas Tree

Hi Peeps! This is "Polar Bear's Christmas Tree", a red rubber image I did for Whimsy Stamps.  I loved making a snowy scene with my Copics! The background paper is from my digital pack, "Winter's Magic Blue".  The sentiment was also from a digital set, "Penguin Christmas Sentiments 1 Set". Here is your close-up:
And here are the Copic colours I used:
Thanks for looking! Happy Canadian Thanksgiving everyone!

Scruffy Cat

Hi Peeps! Here's Scruffy the Cat from my "Scruffy Cat Set", a digital set with two images (one of Scruffy with the hat and one without the hat).  Background papers are from my digital paper pack, "Christmas Red, Gold and Green".
I coloured the image using Copics and added a few Prismacolour pencils on top.  Here's the list of Copics used:
W0, E40, YR30, BV20 on Scruffy's white paws
Grey fur: N0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Red hat: R30, 11, 21, 22, 224, 27, 43, 39
White trim on hat: B0000, E70, BG90, W0, N0BV20
For the space around Scruffy I first coloured it in with YR31, then did the Bokeh effect by dropping little drops of YR30, R00 and 0 blender repeatedly (allowing them to dry between applications) and being careful not to drop any too close to the cat. Edges of the main panel were sponged with some brown ink.
I printed the sentiment from the "Merry and Bright" digital set and then cut it out with the candy cane die (discontinued, sorry!) and then coloured in the stripes with markers and pencils. Thanks so much for looking!

Pretty Girl Happy Mail

Hi everyone! Here's a newly released digital image called, "Pretty Girl Happy Mail".  I had fun colouring her with a combination of Copics followed by Prismacolour pencils, and white gel pen for the snowflakes. The papers are from two digital packs at Whimsy: "Flourishing Blooms" and "Christmas Azure", designed by Yours Truly! The sentiment on the image panel is also a digital from my "Penguin Christmas Sentiments Set 1" and the word JOY! was stamped and embossed and is from the "Penguin Holiday Squares" set.
Here's your close-up:
I'm entering the following challenge:
Hope you come back again soon! Thanks for looking!

Penguin Holiday Squares

Christmas is coming! But you all knew that, right?  ;-D
I LOVE everything Christmas, and I'm super excited about this set of stamps that was released last month.  It's called Penguin Holiday Squares.  This is just two of them - there's a third image in the set (along with sentiments) so go check it out HERE.  Plus, the sentiments it comes with are so versatile, not just to use with this set.  And I love the fonts Denise chose for them. (I draw the images, and she designs the sentiments!)
AND,
I also did the papers - yup! I designed them myself and you can get this set at Whimsy too! They're from a set called "Christmas So Soft".  I love love love using digital paper! It opens up a lot of space on the shelves by not having to store big bulky pads of paper.  Plus you don't have to "save" a sheet that you love for that "special occasion" (you know that occasion - the one that honestly never happens!) because you can reprint your favourite sheets over and over at will! No more fears of running out of your favourite one!
Also, the snowflake is an oldie but a goodie, still available at Whimsy HERE.
Here are the Copic markers I used:
Black: N1,3,5,7,9 100
Pom shades: BG90, 93, B000
Background: BG23 with B41 as a second layer on top
Penguin cheeks: 0 blender first, then R30
Penguin whites: YR30, E40, E70, Tiny bits of BV20 in the darkest places
Pink clothing: RV21, 91, 93, 95, 34, 32, and some RV0000 in the highlights
Beaks: YR30, 12, 14, 27, E74

So if you haven't started your Christmas cards yet, this set makes some really COOL cards! Hop on over to the Whimsy Store and check out all their new releases! There's something for everybody!
Stay cool!

Penguin Campfire

Hi! I am still not into the swing of life-as-usual (yet!).  My pups are now seven months old, but still a handful, so my card making time is still taking a beating! But it won't be beat entirely, thanks to some early mornings (before the Cracken get released!) and some old fashioned grit and determination.  So here I am with another penguin card (oh, surprise, surprise ;-P) and this one is called Penguin Campfire.  I coloured it with Copics but I decided to blend out the sky colours with some coloured pencil atop the Copic layer (on the sky only).  White gel pen for the stars after everything was coloured. I love doing "glowing" scenes.  It really is not as hard as it looks.  You just have to add your yellow on first, where ever you want the image to glow, and then colour as per usual, but making your shadows a tad darker than you normally would.  It also helps a lot to have a really dark background. That is all you gotta do! This one was helped along by Copic because they have some flourescent shades that really already kind of glow.  And just an aside: when you want to colour fire, flames, for the most part, the whitest yellow should be coloured at the base of the flame, where it contacts the fuel (log, or whatever is on fire).  Then as the flame gets further and further from the source of the fuel, the flame darkens through orange to red. Most people colour fire the opposite way, with the whitish yellow at the top and work down to red at the bottom, but that's just not what a flame looks like IRL. So, ....   here's the Copic list:
Glow on front of penguin, his clothes, the log he sits on, top of the rocks around the fire: FY1
Fire: YR07, R05, R27, FY1
Penguin White: E40, YR30, E41, E71
Penguin Black: W1,2,3,5,7,8,10
Penguin Beak and feet: YR12, 14, 16, 27, BV20, E71
Hoodie: R20, 21, 22, BG90, 93, C2
Rocks: T1,3,5,7
Logs in fire: E43,44,W9
Log seat: E43,44,79, W5,7
Atmosphere above fire: Y00, 11, YR30, C00
Sky: B0000, BG0000, C00, B32, 45, 97 and then blended to the yellow above the fire using coloured pencils
Ground: E40, 41, 42, 43, 53, BG96, G21
Twigs, tree and grass in background: E87, 89, E40, BG90
Smoke: C1,2,3 plus some grey coloured pencils
Stars: white gel pen
This is a new digital image at Whimsy Stamps and can be found HERE
Also used on this card are a sheet from the digital pack "Old Glory" and a sheet from a pack called "Ahoy There".
Thanks so much for stopping by and looking! I hope to be back ... soon!!

Online Thievery

Putting this out there to educate you... a Whimsy stamp set design along with some dies were recently stolen and are for sale online.  If you find your favourite stamp or die selling for a lot less than at the company where they originated, they are most likely low quality knock-offs of illegally acquired designs. Please do not purchase them! You might have to pay a little more for designs that were made with integrity, but by buying from legitimate sites, you’re keeping your favourite companies and artists in business and receiving a higher quality product. Please do not support this thievery because that makes you a party to it.

If you can imagine thieves ambushing a truck full of baked goods (which they didn’t make and they didn’t buy the ingredients for and they didn’t pay staff to make) and then turning around and selling the stolen goods in their own store, at cheaper prices (making it appear more enticing)while claiming it was theirs, would you buy your bread from them? if you knew it was stolen from the honest, family-run bakery? just so you could save some money? Please be aware of this practice and help keep honest family-run businesses in business. We all loose when we support thieves; conversely, we all benefit from supporting honesty and integrity.

We wish to keep bringing you original high quality designs, but we can only do this with your support. You can help by educating yourself and your fellow crafting buddies. Please spread the word. Thank you.

Penguin's Bunch of Bunnies (and new Puppies~!~)

Hi Peeps! Can't chat long... I am typing as the puppies are asleep, but they won't be for long, lol! Yes, we have a couple of new pups, American Cocker Spaniels, Freckles and Dot! I will show you a photo of them too!
On my card I used Penguin's Bunch of Bunnies, a new rubber image I did for Whimsy! Also on the card are papers from my set of digital papers that I created! I think they are pretty, even if I do say so myself... also used are words from a chipboard set by MIC, and sold through Whimsy Stamps too.  I also stamped some party hats from a couple other Whimsy sets ...
Wish I could hang around, but puppies are calling!

Gift Horse

Hi People! Here is a card I made using "Gift Horse", my rubber image at Whimsy Stamps! Instead of using the party hat, I made a Santa hat and turned it into a Christmas Card for my niece.  She loved it!
I coloured the image with a combination of Copics followed by coloured pencils. The snowy background was drawn on with a white gel pen. The beautiful neutral background paper is by Tracy Wray at Whimsy stamps, from the pre-printed pack, "Christmas Cheer".

I have entered a couple of challenges with this card.  Firstly, the Whimsy Inspires Challenge, which is a monthly challenge.  It is always Anything Goes, as long as you have a Whimsy image, or, Whimsy Paper, or Whimsy Die on your card, you are free to enter! And, there's always a 15$ Gift Voucher for the store to one randomly chosen winner at the end of the month long challenge.  So, don't hesitate to join! The best part is, you don't have to spend a cent! You can get a free Whimsy image or paper download to print off and use at home, by visiting HERE! and so you are all set to join in! No excuses! lol

The second challenge is from SCS, the Ways To Use It challenge, and this week it is "Let's Circle Around" (to use circles on your card).

Thanks for looking!
