Proud Grandma Crissy!

Had to show off pics of the new grandchild!  Alla and Nik just had their baby, Alexis Grace.  She is a doll (well, just look at her!).  Here is Mike and I holding Alexis;

Nik and I with Alexis in the hospital:

Val took this shot (Val's hand on Lexi's head).

Val took this shot too - looks like she's kissing her arm!

In Great-grandma's arms:

The proud parents with their new treasure!

Mike's Valentine

I'm posting this after Valentine's Day, because of course I didn't want Mike to see it before I gave it to him!  I used Lucy and Ricky from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps on hot press water color paper, and water coloured them with Twinkling H20's.
To make the black fur, I layered two colours alternately: Burnt Umber and Bolivian Blue.  I prefer to use two colours to make black (or really grey in this case) because with a mix of two colours, you avoid that flat appearance.  Theres a lot more vibrancy and life in the grey where you sometimes see the brown more dominant, and sometimes see the blue showing through.
For the grass, I first did a light wash of green and then while it was still damp, I added flicking brushstrokes, with a lot of pigment but not much water on my brush.
He loved his card!  It was a challenge to make a Valentine that wasn't too "frilly" or "flowery" for my guy.  I think it turned out all right!
Thanks for visiting and God bless you!

Kraftin' Kimmie Blog Hop and New Release!

Today marks the release of the new February images from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!  There are 5 new swashbuckling pirate images from Annie Rodrigue, a new set of coordinating Pirate Sentiments, 2 adorable Cindy and Mindy images from Jean Grant and four new Emmylou images which I have illustrated too!  You get to check out all the new stamps throughout this fabulous blog hop!!
If you want to start from the beginning, just head over to the Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge Blog.   As you hop from blog to blog, be sure to leave a comment at each and every stop to increase your chances of winning.  Three lucky stampers will be chosen randomly from all the comments posted, and they will win packages of stamps from the new release.   And when you're done hopping, be sure to head over to the Kraftin' Kimmie store, because ALL the new images are NOW available!

If you have arrived from Tara's blog, you have come to the right place.
From here, hop on over to Melanie's blog, as she is the next stop on the hop.

For my card:
I coloured my Emmylou image with the following Copics:

E0000, 000, 00, 02, 11, 30, 43,  51, 93,97,99
B41, 23, 21, 26
G20, 99
BG 93, 96
Y13, 32, 23, 28
YG99
R22,39,89
T8
W4, 7
C0, 2
I had started off giving her blue stripes on her dress with the B colours listed.   But after seeing how it looked next to the designer paper I had chosen, I realized it was really out of place.  So I changed the stripes to green with a combination of Y13, YG99 and  the two greens listed.  I normally feel that mixing Copic colours does not offer the best results.  And it took a lot of work and a lot of layering to come up with the green you see here.  So I don't recommend it.  However, with a bit of time and patience, it actually worked, and one would never know the stripes had started out blue!

Special thanks to Chris for sharing the Prima flowers with me!

Happy Hopping!
God bless you!

Updates

In case you are trying to get a hold of me by e-mail, my computer is on the fritz and is not currently giving me my mail.  My personal computer resource analyst who works for me free of charge (hubby Mike ;-) is trying to fix the problem for me that began a week and a half ago.  I'm hoping to be back up and running by the end of the weekend.  So if I haven't responded to your e-mail, now you know its because I didn't get it, sorry.

Also, I am extending the deadline for my huge blog candy give-away because I want to give more people the chance to see it and possibly give more to Haiti.  I will choose a winner next Saturday.  However, even though my blog candy will be closed,  the Wings Of Hope image will continue to be sold at  Whimsy as a digital image until the end of Feb., with all proceeds (minus Paypal fees) going to the Red Cross disaster relief fund for Haiti.

And good news for die-hard rubber stamp lovers;  Sometime in March, Whimsy is re-releasing Wings of Hope in a rubber stamp set with some sentiments and a flourish stamp to accessorize it! And, a portion of the proceeds will still be given to the Red Cross for Haiti!

God bless you, and thanks for stopping by!
